WORD FROM DARWIN

Recently Darwin Loro visited Divine Word School of Theology, Tagaytay City. There’s where he made his the postulancy formation years ago. He met seventeen new postulants. The other seminarians come from Korea, China and Papua New Guinea, etc. He also met my nephew, Randy Flores, SVD, who’s a resident Scripture lecturer at the DWST.

Darwin was invited by a friend to ride on a broomstick around her place (photo below). Look, Darwin's left arm is up the air. It look breezy up there! He invites confreres to go and experience it for themselves. In the photo above, you’ll recognise Darwin, his mum and the family of his brother, Bengie.

While waiting for his Visa for Argentina, Darwin is staying in the Mission House at Christ the King Seminary, Manila. He already received his invitation letter and entry permit. He hopes however to get his Visa soon, then fly to Argentina. But for sure, not via Broomstick Airline!

WORLD YOUTH DAY 2008

17 June 2008 - Paul Sunil, SVD, talked to the DMC student body about the forthcoming World Youth Day. He discussed two things: the Preparations (one week before) and the Celebration (one week during) the WYD. Around one hundred thirty pilgrims are expected to be hosted in our SVD house at Marsfield, NSW.

The students are asked to assist in hosting the pilgrims coming from Alice Springs, interstate or overseas. Students will be assigned to various committees where they can serve in the Liturgy, accommodations, serving meals, or as guide to pilgrims. However, Sunil stressed the PILGRIM spirit of the WYD, i.e. to travel light, to take part at prayer times, Eucharist, sacrament, etc. He also encouraged the students to get to know the pilgrims and enjoy the once-in-a-life time experience.

Sunil, of course, was talking from his personal experience, having participating in the WYD02 held Canada. Many anxieties and uncertainties regarding the WYD have thus been dispelled. ~
